RACE AND COURSE DESCRIPTION

 

DATE:                          From November 5th to November 15th 2007

 

START:                        09:00 AM.

 

DISTANCES:                3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 42.2 km running per day for 10 days

                                      10 Ironman in 10 days, one each day

 

LIMIT TIME:                 10 days

 

 

SWIMMING:                 In 50 meters indoors heated pool in the University of Nuevo Leon

 

 

BIKE AND RUN:            Bike paved circuit (1.915), Running paved circuit (1.886 km.) Located at the “Parque Niρos Hιroes”. Closed to traffic, completely illuminated, 95% flat, 5% slight slope or hill.

 

 

ENRTY FEE:                 $ 1,500:00 U.S. Dollars for individual athletes

                                   $ 2,500:00 U.S. Dollars for team from 2 or 3 athletes

 

 

CATEGORIES:             Individual: 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and older men and women.

Team:  Each athlete is allowed to participate in the 3 stages and the minimum distance that each one he/she should make is:   

                                   Swimming:  One lap in the pool (100 meters)     

                                   Cycling:       One lap in the circuit (1.915 km)   

                                   Running:     One lap in the circuit (1.886 km) 

 

AWARDS:                    Trophy to all competitors.

Gold, silver and bronze IUTA medal to the 1, 2 and 3 general places men and women IUTA medal and diploma for every finisher

IMPORTANT:        To be able to obtain the prize money, it is mandatory to finish each one of the 10

                               Ironman within 24 hours each one

 

In case there are less than 20 participants men, the prize money will be as follow:

From 16 to 19 participants, the organization will pay 75% of the total prize money

                                    From 10 to 15 participants, the organization will pay 50% of the total prize money

From 5 to 9 participants, the organization will pay 25% of the total prize money

From 1 to 4 participants there will be no prize money

 

In case there are less than 5 women, the prize money will be the following:

            4 participants, the organization will pay 75% of the total prize

            3 participants, the organization will pay 50% of the total prize

            From 1 to 2 participants there will be no prize money pay

 DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT

 

SWIMMING: 

The 3.8 km. of the swimming stage will take place in an Olympic indoor swimming pool at the University of Nuevo Leon, it counts with heating system. The organization it will provide water, coca cola, Powerade, chairs and tables during the swimming stage. The distance from the pool to the cycling/running-track is 1.905 km

 

FROM THE SWIMMING POOL TO THE CYCLING CIRCUIT : 

When the competitor finished the swimming portion they should ride their bike to the bike circuit with the protection of the police but the competitor, must follow the police's regulation laws

 

CYCLING:

The 180 km of the biking stage will take place in a circuit of 1.915 km, closed to traffic 100% illuminated, 95% flat with 5% slight or hill inside the Parque Niρos Heroes, with a total of 93 laps to cover 178.095  km plus 1.905 km is the distance between the swimming pool to the biking circuit.

 

RUNNING:

The run will take place in the same circuit of the cycling stage in the opposite sense. Each lap will have 1.886 km, with a total of 22 laps to cover the distance of 41.492 km plus one additional short lap of 0.703 km.

 

TRANSITION AREA:

The first transition area will be in the swimming pool and the organization will provide bathrooms and dressing rooms for man and women. The second transition area will be in the Parque Niρos Heroes at the start and finish line; the organization will provide bathrooms and tents for men and women.

 

TOTAL DISTANCE:

The total distance of the event is 38 km swim, 1’800 km bike and 422 km run but the way to do it, is to complete the distance of one Ironman per day, that means that every competitor has 24 hours to finish the distance of 3.8 km swim, 180 km bike and 42.2 km run in order to finish the total distance within 10 days.

 

 

ONE IRONMAN PER DAY:

 

The competitors have a limit of 24 hours to finish each Iron, the remaining time is free, but they must start each day at 09:00 AM with the swimming pool until finishing the complete Deca-Iron.

 

The organization will add the times from each competitor when finishing each Iron to determine the official places of each one.

   

If the competitor doesn't finish one or more Iron he/she can continue and the organization will add the finished kilometers to determine the position that he/she will obtain.

 

So that the competitors can continue inside the event, it is obligation that every day he/she start with the swimming stage at the hour fixed by the Race director.  

 

 ENTRY PROCEDURE

 

 

GENERACL PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION

 

ENTRY FORM: Fill in the enclosed registration form and return it to the organizers before august 10th, 2007.The organizer will confirm your participation within 2 weeks from the date your registration form has arrived in Mexico.

 

ENTRY FEE: Pay your entry fee, send a money order from an international bank to: Jorge Luis Andonie for the amount of $ 1,500.00 US Dollars for individual entry, and $ 2,500.00 US Dollars for team entry. The entry fee mentioned above should be free from any taxes, levies, deductions, duties, bank charges, restrictions or conditions of any nature. The paid entry fee can be refunded on requested bank, charges deducted before the 1st of October 2007. The entry fee becomes non-refundable after the 1st of October 2007.The individual entry fee will be $ 1,800.00 Dollars and the teams entry fee will be $ 2,800.00 US Dollars after the 1st of October 2007 and becomes not-refundable

 

IUTA LICENSE: The organizer of this event will not accept any participant that is not an associate IUTA member (athletes without a license). See in the IUTA web site: www.iutasport.com  the document regarding how to obtain the IUTA license.

 

MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS

 

MEDICAL PROOF: Fill out the attached documents (page 18 and 19 of this document) and return it to the organizers before the 10th of August 2006.

 

HEMATOCRITE CONTROL: All athletes participating should bring their medical certificate regarding their health status, signed and stamped by an official medical doctor or an official medical institution. Every athlete must bring his own hematocrite test report, made no more than 7 days before the event and give it to the organizers. This test has been done by an official medical doctor or an official medical institution. The official race laboratory will make the hematocrite test with all the athletes 24 hours before the start of the event. The result of the hematocrite test has to be sent in electronically form to the IUTA. In case the athlete fails to present the medical certificate and has to undergo hematocrite test, he/she may undergo at his/her own expenses the medical check-up conducted by medical doctors responsible in the race.

 

MEDICAL SERVICE AND INSURANCE: No athlete may be allowed to participate in the race without presenting evidence of medical approval (local or home country). The doctor in charge in the race has the right to pull out an athlete from the race for medical reasons. The first aid assistance will be provided on site, free of charge. All Athletes participating in the championship must have health insurance valid in Mexico and we recommend that their support crew also have health insurance. The insurance must cover all medical assistance expenses in case of illness, accident or personal injury during your stay in Mexico. The insurance should also cover the same happenings during the race. You may arrange the insurance at your home (country)

ANTI DOPING CONTROL: According to the IUTA regulations (www.iutasport.com), the first general place, men and women, and at least one competitor chosen at random by the official doctor, will be subject to an Anti Doping Test after the race.
 

SERVICES BEFORE AND DURING THE RACE
 

TRAVEL TO THE COMPETITION

 

Monterrey has an International airport. You can arrive from any Country through Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Atlanta, Los Angeles etc. in USA and Mexico City, or from any state of Mexico, please check it with your travel agency and if you have any question please let me know. WE NEED TO KNOW YOUR ARRIVAL DATE AND FLIGHT NUMMBER TO PICK YOU UP AT THE AIRPORT, WITHOUT CHARGE. In the case that you want to come on your own the taxi fare from the airport is of $240 pesos (around $ 22 US Dollars) for 4 persons, the taxi fare for a Suburban (8 people car) is of $550 pesos (or $50 US Dollars). It will take you about 30 min to get from the airport to the hotel or sport Villages.

PROGRAM AND TRANSPORTATION BEFORE, DURING AND AFTER THE RACE

 

November 3rd 2007 at 12 p.m.

MEETING: All the athletes should go to the Sport Village Restaurant November 3rd 2007 at 12:00 p.m., pay the entry fee, check your IUTA license and give the information of the event and the race packet to all the athletes. I inform you that we will have an Ironman competition November 3rd 2007 during the day.

 

November 4th 2007 at 12:00 p.m.

OPEN CEREMONY: The organization will provide transportation from the Sport Village to the Hotel Crowne Plaza, November 4th 2007  at 12:00 p.m., after the presentation of the athletes finish will offer an international buffet to all the competitors, (a charge of $ 25 US Dollars for additional person should be paid in advance), at 3:30 p.m. the transportation will take everybody to visit the swimming pool and after we go back to the sport village; You may install your tent with all your belongings before or after the open ceremony, we will have police's security 24 hours every day. (The buffet include white wine, coca cola and water, any other drink you want, you should pay for)

 

November 5th 2007 at 7:30 a.m.

THE EVENT STARTS AT 9:00 a.m. IN THE SWIMMING POOL: The organization will provide transportation for the support crew every day, from the Sport Village to the swimming pool, November 5th 2007 at 8:00 a.m., also transportation from the swimming pool to the race site, the competitors should take his bike every day at 8:00 AM to the swimming pool and when they finish the swimming portion they should ride their bike to the bike circuit with the protection of the police 

 

November 16th 2007 at 12:00 p.m.

TO THE AWARD CEREMONY: The organization will provide transportation from the Sport Village to the Hotel Crowne Plaza, November 16th 2007 at 12:00 p.m., after the award ceremony finish will offer a International buffet to all the competitors, (a charge of $ 25 US Dollars for additional person should be paid in advance), at 4:30 p.m. the transportation will take back everybody to the sport village (The buffet include white wine, coca cola and water, any other drink you want, you should pay for)

 

TO THE AIRPORT: The organization will provide transportation after the race to the Airport, I advise you to check with the organization your departure time so you don’t miss your plane

 

SUGGESTION: You can take a holiday an go to any Mexican beach, in November the travel agencies offers big discounts in hotel and airplane packages, usually the 2 x 1

 ACCOMODATIONS BEFORE AND AFTER THE RACE

 

Sport Village at the ¨Parque Niρos Heroes¨: The Sport Village is located 150 meters from the bike and running circuit of the event and 2 km approximately from the swimming pool. The special cost is $ 95 Mexican pesos ($ 8 Dlls.) per person per night. The rooms are for 1 to 4 people. It has showers and toilets. The “Sport Village” rooms are plain simple, Sport Village counts with a restaurant and you can stay before, during and after the race if you want. The Sport Village have a limit of rooms with the restroom inside, I advise you to make the reservation as soon as possible

Costs: Special Rates for the Deca Iron Triathlon World Challenge on November 2007, $ 700.00 Pesos In Weekdays and $ 650.00 Pesos In Weekend. These rates are in Mexican Pesos plus 17% of taxes. 1 dollar= 11.00 pesos and 1 Euro 13 pesos aprox.

SERVICES DURING THE RACE

RESTAURANT: Restaurant open 24 hours, which includes a breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet. Plus an all night open snack bar. This service is free only for the competitors. The price for the support crew and friends will be of $15 US dlls. per day per person.

MEALS: Spaghetti, rice, baked potatoes, meat with tomato sauce, bread, eggs, hot cakes pastries,

sandwiches, tacos, sausage, soups, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, fish, salad, vegetables, granola bars,

cookies, marmalade, cereal, salt, sugar, butter, honey,  banana, oranges, apple, Powerade, Coca Cola,

purified water, mineral water, tea, milk, chocolate milk, etc.

 

ACCOMODATION DURING THE RACE: The competitor and support crew may bring their own sleeping bag and tent. There will be a place to install the tent beside the circuit. On the same area there will be restrooms for men and women. The athletes that want to stay at the Sport Villages are just 150 meters away from the bike and running circuit, and have bathrooms and shower, and if you wish you can rest there and also have restaurant that it is open during the day. 

 

OTHER SERVICES: The organization will provide tents, chairs and tables for the athletes and support crew. Washing and dryer machine: in the sport village. Security: Policemen every day on the circuit.

Ambulance: with paramedics and doctor everyday. Medical check-up: Mandatory medical check-up every 24 hours.

 

GEAR MAINTENANCE: Maintenance for the bikes free for the competitors, including cleaning and greasing.
